A Twitty and Lynn Acoustic Christmas
November 27th @ 7:30PM
The grandchildren of famed duo Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty, the two have taken to the road to honor their grandparents in an intimate evening of music and storytelling. Tayla Lynn and Tre Twitty have seen great success with their Tribute to Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty; going into their second year together, the duo already has at least two dozen tour dates set throughout much of North America and Canada.
...Lynn and Twitty have developed an authentic show that builds off of their family histories without attempting to simply duplicate older performances. In perfect foil to one another, Tre Twitty takes a calm, methodical approach to his storytelling and performing, meanwhile Tayla Lynn arrives on stage , often unexpectedly, with explosive energy and heart. Trying to keep ones eyes on Tayla Lynn is like trying to lasso a firework; guessing where shell appear and what will come out of her mouth next is half the fun of spending an evening with her. Her joy is genuine, her energy addictive, and Twitty provides the perfect balance of steadiness in the eye of her hurricane- not unlike the way Conway Twitty related to and tempered Loretta Lynn for so many years.
Jaston Williams in "Blood and Holly"
December 10&11th @ 7:30PM
About the show:
In his one-man show, Blood & Holly, Jaston Williams remembers Christmas in childhood as a warped hybrid of Toyland and Franco’s Spain. Meet the elderly sisters without any eyebrows, the house cat driven crazy by Christmas decorations, and a gift list that includes rubber knives, moist towelettes, and teeth. Known nationally as the co-author and co-star of the award-winning plays in the Greater Tuna cycle, Jaston Williams will leave you in stitches.
About Jaston Williams
Playwright and performer Jaston Williams is best known as the co-author and co-actor of the hilarious “Greater Tuna” quartet of plays, each set in the fictional town of Tuna, Texas, the “third-smallest” town in the state. But he’s been a part of many celebrated stage presentations throughout his career. Williams’ performances have played on and off Broadway, throughout the US, and in all corners of Texas. He received the national Marquee Award, a lifetime achievement award from the League of Historic American Theatres. And among other honors, he’s also the recipient of the Texas Governor’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts and the 2013 Texas Medal of the Arts award.

Katie Kadan & Rose Short
From the time she could talk she could sing. Since the age of three Katie sang not only melody lines but three and four-part harmonies. Katie began performing with her mom and sisters in church, touching people’s hearts and inviting them to the place where music takes us all - looking in the mirror to see who we are and realizing what we are meant for.
Current Texan, Rose Short, started singing when she was 5 years old in Germany, where her father was stationed with the military. Growing up, she often performed at community events on the base. Her family eventually moved to Texas, where she became involved in choir and theater. She always loved music, but after school she needed a job that paid the bills, so she took a position at a male maximum-security prison. Rose worked as a corrections officer for eight years, but ultimately quit to focus on music again. Rose is currently a full-time musician writing and performing her own music.
Both were finalists on Season 17 of The Voice

Gilman burst onto the national stage in 2000 releasing the hit single “One Voice.” His debut album was certified double platinum in the United States, and he was included in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the youngest singer to ever reach #1 on the Billboard Top Country Album charts. He has sold ten million albums worldwide and garnered awards and nods from The Grammy’s, the Academy of Country Music, the Country Music Association, Billboard Magazine, and the American Music Association.
Now, Gilman is eager to come back and share his new music and his new sound with his fans after soaring to the finale of NBC's THE VOICE. “It took me a good while to figure out exactly who I was, musically speaking. As a little kid, sometimes I was just told what to sing. But now I have enjoyed coming into my own and discovering what it really is that I want to sing. And I think that my fans will dig what they hear. He shared that he is drawn to the country genre once again since the songs are storytelling tunes, and that's who he is, musically and artistically. Reduced Shakespeare Company
The Complete History of Comedy
May 15th @ 7:30PM
Now, the Reduced Shakespeare Company tackles the subject it was born to reduce. From the
high-brow to the low, The Complete History of Comedy (abridged) covers comedy through the
ages, from Aristophanes and Shakespeare and Moliere (Is Moliere funny? Why not?) to
Vaudeville and Charlie Chaplin to The Daily Show and Anthony Weiner.
The Complete History of Comedy (abridged) answers the fundamental questions:
Which is the least funny nationality? Which is the funniest? Why did the former try to exterminate the
How do critics describe everything in a way to make it sound unfunny? (“First of all, the premise is weak.
No one would ever believe that a baseball team would actually have a first baseman named “Who.”)
Why, in fact, did the chicken cross the road?
Tickets to The Complete History of Comedy (abridged) are far more affordable than tickets to an
amusement park, but you’ll come away with the same feeling of nausea and motion sickness. From
cavemen telling “Rock Rock” jokes to Chris Rock and everything in-between, the bad boys of abridgment
leave no joke untold as they deconstruct the entire history of comedy in 90 rollicking minutes.
We at Downtown Cowtown look forward to seeing you soon!
