Robert Dubac's "The Book of Moron" July 10th
Time & Location
About the Event
Robert Dubac’s newest Off- Broadway solo hit, THE BOOK OF MORON, has been described as one of the most “Hilarious” “Intelligent” and “Scorching” satirical attacks on idiocracy since Mark Twain. (And “idiocracy” isn’t even a word. How dumb is that?)
In The Book of Moron, Dubac portrays an everyman who has lost sight of the bigger picture. He’s been bombarded by so much hype and spin that he can’t remember who he is or what he believes. Can he think for himself? Is the truth in the details or in the pudding? He hasn’t a clue. Stuck in a coma of stupidity (his IQ has dropped to Q) he racks his brain searching for answers but finds nothing but voices. Inner voices that take him on a freight train of provocative thought to find the bigger picture and wake up from the dumbing down of modern-day life. Having been brainwashed by a culture that worships Kardashians over character, delusion over truth, and selfies over self-effacement; can he snap out of it?
PBS raves, “The scintillating BOOK OF MORON is intellectually invigorating in an era of catastrophic dumbing down.”
Are you are craving for some satire that cuts with a clever intelligent edge? Are you are tired of adolescent comedies generated by the mediocrity of television? Then buckle up for a hilarious joy ride over the pot-holed highways of cultural hypocrisy with Robert Dubac’s THE BOOK OF MORON!
It’s comedy on steroids. Think your funny bone can handle it?
Robert Dubac draws on decades of showbiz experience as a writer, actor and stand-up comic to create solo shows that explore social mores, political ideas and the complexity of the human experience. He belongs to a rare breed of humorists who make comedy smart and tragedy funny.
In other words, you get more truth and less dick jokes.
Using humor that is both intelligent and absurd, he dissects culture with a jaundiced and probing eye. His characters boggle our minds with rapid-fire satire while simultaneously crafting a simple story that binds us together. His unmatched ability to combine the boisterous laughter of stand-up with the staggering thrill of live theater fills seats everywhere; as nothing like this can be seen on TV.
The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron? is his original tour-de-force that tackles the babble of the sexes. It has become a worldwide phenomenon, having been translated into dozens of languages and performed in just as many countries. It is hands down the funniest relationship show you will ever see.
His second production, The Book of Moron, has been lauded nationwide as the kind of razor-sharp satire desperately needed to awaken our world from its catastrophic dumbing down. It’s the definitive remedy for truth in a world that runs on hype and spin.
Stand-up Jesus, his most recent solo show, takes an irreverent look at reverence; shining the light of truth on false prophets, duplicitous politicians and immoral sheeple. It is intelligently designed to redeem sinners of all faiths. His ecclesiastical reviews are stellar.
All three have brought Mr. Dubac critical acclaim and respect within the genre.
Working behind the scenes, he has co-written and directed the new avant-garde solo show, H@ppyville, starring Dave Shirley. He directed the Off-Broadway production of Man 1, Bank 0, and produced and directed the premiere performance of ¡Satiristas! at The Actor’s Gang in LA . He also produced and created The Barbarians of Truth for both theatrical houses and foul-smelling comedy clubs.
In addition to his theatrical endeavors, Mr. Dubac found significant success in the mainstream entertainment industry as well. After being chosen to study with a select group of actors under the personal tutelage of the late great Sanford Meisner he appeared in many feature films including Too Hip for the Room, After the Game, Cold Ground, Sketch Artist, Stitches, Innocent Obsession and The Rookie. His TV credits range from comedic turns in sit-coms like Growing Pains and Diff’rent Strokes to drama, with appearances on programs such as Life Goes On and Jack and Mike. He even worked in the melodramatic style of ABC’s soap opera, Loving. Prior to all this he toured as a stand-up comic and opening act to the royalty of rock n roll.
Eschewing drama in the pursuit of humor, Robert Dubac constantly tours with all three of his solo shows as a one-man repertory company. A supremely skilled performer who challenges convention, he brings every audience to new heights; pulling our emotional strings with biting wit, profound insight and humor of the highest caliber,.
DVDs of both The Book of Moron and The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron? are available for those who still have DVD players. The Male Intellect can also be purchased on Amazon.com. However, for some reason Amazon calls it "Inside" the Male Intellect. Don’t worry, it’s not any less funny.
Friends call him Bob and Bob is thankful he makes his wife, Lauren, laugh.
